Year of Dylan in St. Louis County
Held May 24, 2021 to May 24, 2022
Some celebrities have been honored by a special day, or even a weekend, for their accomplishments. The Duluth Dylan Fest and members of the Hibbing Dylan Project, along with our tourism partners–Visit Duluth, Hibbing Area Chamber of Commerce, Iron Range Tourism, and the Minnesota Discovery Center–decided that the achievements of Bob Dylan, spanning over 60 years, can best be acknowledged by a “Year of Dylan”. The St. Louis County Board issued a proclamation making May 24, 2021, coinciding with Dylan’s 80th birthday, to May 24, 2022, the “Year of Dylan”.

Over the 12 month “Year of Dylan” an advisory committee, with representatives from partnering organizations, scheduled a variety of “Dylan-esque” events. The Year of Dylan was book-ended by Bob Dylan’s 80th and 81st birthday, celebrated in both Hibbing and Duluth in 2021 and 2022.
The Year of Dylan kicked off May 22 in Hibbing with the ground-breaking of the Dylan Monument at Hibbing High School, organized by the Hibbing Dylan Project along with music at the Hibbing Dylan boyhood home. Throughout the year, the Duluth Dylan Fest and Hibbing Dylan Project planned and organized a variety of events.
